Portraiture: Revitalised is a Cicek Gallery online exhibition, demonstrating the deep artistic and emotional sensitivities of British Pakistani artist Annam Butt.
The exhibition brings together eight portraits of the artist’s contemporaries, rendered in her technically classical style and all painted from life. Paying lavish attention to the textured details and the vitality of each individual, Annam takes her technical expertise in hand and bends her own rules, making choices that create an organic mesh of human experience and soulful understanding. Portraiture is simply one aspect of Annam’s practice, but it is a crucial part which she believes cuts to the core of human communication.
