About

In this workshop we are joined by artist Nalia Hazell, who will help you to produce your own artwork, inspired by a painting from the collection, in her own contemporary style.

Nalia is passionate about exploring the stillness in short precious moments, which can be seen throughout one’s life yet can also be ignored and lost. Her paintings transform those unconscious moments to create conscious reminiscences.

You will begin with brief, quick studies using simple line drawings. Once warmed up, Hazell will encourage you to create drawings inspired by a piece from the collection. This final piece will reflect the new drawing style you will have developed during the warm-up exercises.

The workshop will utilise various materials such as charcoals, pastels and pens. All materials provided.

Naila Hazell is a British Azeri artist based in London. She was taught by renowned social realism painter Boyukagha Mirzezade, while studying fine arts at the Azerbaijani Fine Arts Academy.

Naila is currently based in her studio in West London where she continues to paint as a figurative artist. Working mainly in oils, her paintings capture pure moments in ‘ordinary’ life, extruding the depth of hidden realities within life onto the surface of the canvas.
