Fidji Lapios (1990, Poissy, France) is a French figurative painter living and working in London. Having trained and worked as an architect, Fidji Lapios has turned to painting to multiply the possibility of alternative worlds.
At first influenced by the New Realism movement, especially in its use of collages and images that transcend the banality of life, Fidji Lapios creates peculiar landscapes, composed of imaginary scenes holding an eerie realism, and that can make one wonder whether these depictions are part of the real world or not. Whilst Fidji Lapios’ paintings are representing real things that commonly exist in our environment, her work seeks to convey a sense of outer world that is timeless, curious and floating in between places. Fidji’s work has been exhibited twice in London.
